Works great
I finally gave up on trying to get my Linksys PCI card to work with my ShuttlePC. There is some bizzare conflict somewhere…
As the other reviewers had indicated, this unit works great. Install the driver and then plug in the gadget. The Dlink icon in the system tray gives you status info on the gadget. Clicking on the icon takes you directly to the standard WinXP networking interface, not a proprietary interface that seems to often conflict with what XP is telling you (ie with Linksys products).
The unit also comes with a USB extension adapter/cable in case it is inconvenient to plug the unit directly into your computer’s USB port. It is also useful as a means to extend the range of the unit by keeping it away from the metal chassis of your computer.
Update (5/17/2012): This item is currently on sale here for the lowest price I’ve seen. I also found some auctions for this item here.

Does not necessarily work on a mac
I bought this because the first reviewer said it ‘works great on a mac’. I read the macosxhint that they mentioned and then went ahead and bought it.
It turns out you need specifically a revision B DWL-G122, which uses the ralink chipset. I bought a rev. A2 version, and revisions A1 and A2 both use an Intersil Prism chipset, which as far as I’ve been able to find, is NOT compatible with a mac.
As disappointing as this is, it does work on my PC so I’ll keep it and look for an airport card for my mac.
Do not buy the A1 or A2 version of this product if you want it to work with your mac!

Seems reliable, but poor driver support online
I have been using this adapter for a while now, after some initial difficulties with what appears to be an unreliable USB port on the front of my Dell desktop. The extension is great b / c different networks require different placement and it takes trial and error to find the optimal placement of a new network for a wireless adapter each time disappears and I have an appointment to a new one. But put the driver software available online DOES NOT WORK. I have tried to follow and ignore their directions with the same failure for too many times. The only way it will be recognized by WinXP to use the CD. I have the Rev. A2 version of the adapter and I do not know which rev you get from Amazon, but just remember to keep a copy of the driver CD somewhere.
